Each year the pupils design a Christmas card to represent the school. This year Friends of Crosshill chose Heena Elahi and Nathan Khan’s Designs. To thank Heena and Nathan for their efforts they were taken to Academy Print to see their designs being made into actual greeting cards. Mr Maddison and Mrs Philomena Keigher, Governor accompanied the pupils on their visit.(read all about their morning at Academy Print below). Heena and Nathan also received an art set each and a pack of their card designs to take home.
Friends of Crosshill visit to Academy Print
As part of Heena Elahi and Nathan Khan’s reward they visited Academy Print in Accrington to see the process of their designs being made into Christmas cards. The Managing Director Steve Shread personally greeted the pupils when they arrived at the Printers. Heena and Nathan were treated like V.I.Ps and given special treatment. The Graphic Designer Michelle Fletcher and the pupils first worked in the Graphic Design department where they utilized the designs to create their Christmas cards.
Once the students approved their designs they proceeded to the digital production department where the cards where printed using our Konika C1100 Press. This machine is unique as Academy Print is the first company in the UK to have and use it.
Once the cards had been printed they proceeded to the guillotine department and the print finishing department where the cards were scored and folded and the pupils chose the envelopes. The cards were then boxed up, ready to take away.
A special Thank you to Michael Lambert, Operations Manager of Academy Print for organising the day, and to Steve Shread, Managing Director and the Academy Print team for making the day so special. It was a rewarding, educational and entertaining morning not only for Heena and Nathan but also Mr Maddison, Head Teacher and Mrs Keigher, School Governor
