Family Lets Get Cooking Half Term Fun

During Autumn half term holiday we held a family Lets Get cooking day. They started with a healthy eating breakfast and a chance for everyone to get know each other. Then the cooking started, the atmosphere was fantastic and felt like an episode of Master Chef and Great British Bake Off with everyone chopping, boiling, and grating their ingredients. Everyone was in good spirits discussing what each other were making and sharing ingredients and tips. In all ten dishes were made including vegetable pizza, sticky tangy” Quorn” chicken, spicy bean taco breads, jam, cheese and herb muffins, veggie burgers, jaffa cakes, carrot cake and choc chip spider cakes. Once everything was cooked we all sat down together to enjoy a banquet fit for Royalty. The children( and Dads) enjoyed finishing the day decorating buns for Halloween.

Following the success of our first Family Lets Get Cooking Day we will be holding another during the February half term holiday. This time we want you to bring your family favourite recipes for everyone to cook and share and eventually be able to have enough recipes to design a Crosshill Family Cookery book. More information will be available after the Christmas holidays. In the meantime if you are interested in receiving copies of the recipes used in the Lets Get Cooking Day please contact Heather Lofthouse in the school office.
