At Key Stage 3 the curriculum is creative, individualised and flexible, tailored to the learning needs of the individual students and enabling those needs to be met.

At Crosshill with BCHS we work in a ‘stage not age’ approach across a key stage and this is to ensure that we can provide the ‘best fit’ curriculum offer to our students.

Based on the National Curriculum for those pupils of compulsory school age, our curriculum is broad and balanced, blended with opportunities for pupils to develop functional skills, independence skills and skills for working life.

In addition to the academic curriculum, individualised timetables provide opportunities for therapy lead interventions and opportunities to meet the needs of the whole child. Some of these opportunities are lead by therapy based medical professionals (please refer to Therapy and Wellbeing provision), some are lead by our specialist teachers and support staff.

The curriculum is enriched by educational trips and visits, local community links and opportunities within the timetable to engage with new experiences e.g. pony riding, music workshops, gardening and educational visits.
